Before joining Verifact in mid-2006, he spent more than 16 years in workers' compensation roles with SA WorkCover and insurers, starting as an administration officer and progressing through claims management to more senior roles.
For the three years before joining Verifact, Bruno was manager, business & client services, with CGU Workers' Compensation.
His career change to the investigation industry was prompted by a massive shake up in the SA Government statutory workers' compensation scheme.
Verifact has been one of two investigation firms contracted to SA WorkCover and its agents since April 2006. The scheme also has changed to a single service provider for claims management.
Bruno's experience in workers' compensation and his managerial responsibilities, covering marketing, client retention, business growth, and overseeing an in-house legal team and rehabilitation advisers, are invaluable for Verifact.
He now examines claims from a different perspective -- as a service provider not a claims manager. But past experience means "I know what the customer is looking for in a service provider".
Bruno's goal is to ensure Verifact's SA/NT/WA team delivers "the best possible investigation service we can".
Verifact SA/NT/WA is ensuring claims managers can do their job to the best of their ability, and that means providing quality reports, timely investigations and continual communication on the claim investigation progress.
Bruno is keen to expand further into workers' compensation investigations for the large pool of self-insurers and the government departments. He is also taking Verifact into other product lines that are major components of the company's work in other states, like general insurance.
Bruno, who has a Bachelor of Arts (politics and sociology) and a Graduate Diploma in Business Management, is a big sports fan. He's passionate about the Adelaide Crows AFL team and the Adelaide United soccer team.
His other sporting interests are family driven. "Spare time" for the Carusos is driving three children to and from sporting venues. But, as proud parents, it's "never a chore".
